Queen: il chitarrista Brian May nominato cavaliere del regno da Re Carlo III.

E’ accaduto ieri, quando il chitarrista dei Queen, Brian May, è stato nominato cavaliere del regno da Re Carlo III per i suoi meriti musicali e l’attivismo nella difesa dei diritti degli animali nel corso di una speciale cerimonia andata in scena a Londra, a Buckingham Palace. “Non ho parole”, ha scritto l’artista sul proprio profilo Instagram postando una foto dell’evento.
“Questo è una specie di titolo, una sorta di mandato per continuare a fare quello che sto facendo e mi dà ancora un po’ più di coraggio. Quindi ne sono molto felice”, ha detto ancora il chitarrista parlando invece alla BBC. “Brian May è un celebre musicista e autore di canzoni, membro fondatore del gruppo rock dei Queen. Nel 2020 è stato nominato ‘più grande chitarrista di tutti i tempi’ da Total Guitar Magazine. La performance dei Queen al Live Aid nel 1985 è riconosciuta come il più grande live della storia. Brian ha aperto le celebrazioni del Giubileo d’oro della Regina nel 2002 esibendosi dal vivo sul tetto di Buckingham Palace e venti anni più tardi è tornato per aprire il concerto del Giubileo di platino in cima al Victoria Monument. È anche un affermato astrofisico, ingaggiato come stereoscopista in molti team di esplorazione spaziale della NASA. Ha rifondato la London Stereoscopic Company nel 2008, è stato co-fondatore dell’Asteroid Day nel 2015, per la protezione della Terra dal pericolo degli asteroidi, ed è stato Rettore della John Moores University di Liverpool dal 2008 al 2013. Il suo lavoro in difesa degli animali selvatici della Gran Bretagna lo ha portato a fondare il Save-Me Trust nel 2009, che è la sua grande passione, per i diritti delle volpi e dei tassi e che organizza un’attiva operazione di salvataggio della fauna selvatica”.
